Understanding the Skills Gap between Higher Education and Industry in the UK in Artificial Intelligence Sector
Jaiswal, Khushi, Kuzminykh, Ievgeniia, Modgil, Sanjay
As Artificial Intelligence (AI) changes how businesses work, there is a growing need for people who can work in this sector. This paper investigates how well universities in United Kingdom offering courses in AI, prepare students for jobs in the real world. To gain insight into the differences between university curricula and industry demands we review the contents of taught courses and job advertisement portals. By using custom data scraping tools to gather information from job advertisements and university curricula, and frequency and Naive Bayes classifier analysis, this study will show exactly what skills industry is looking for. In this study we identified 12 skill categories that were used for mapping. The study showed that the university curriculum in the AI domain is well balanced in most technical skills, including Programming and Machine learning subjects, but have a gap in Data Science and Maths and Statistics skill categories.

The Download: synthetic cow embryos, and AI jobs of the future
About a decade ago, biologists started to observe that stem cells, left alone in a walled plastic container, will spontaneously self-assemble and try to make an embryo. These structures, sometimes called "embryo models" or embryoids, have gradually become increasingly realistic. The University of Florida is trying to create a large animal starting only from stem cells--no egg, no sperm, and no conception. They've transferred "synthetic embryos," artificial structures created in a lab, to the uteruses of eight cows in the hope that some might take. At the Florida center, researchers are now attempting to go all the way.

AI jobs with mind-blowing paychecks of $375K a year
Harvey Castro talks about how AI cold be used in cold cases and the symbiotic relationship between AI and a detective. There's no question that artificial intelligence is changing our lives. A bot that sounds almost human can author your emails, teach you a new language, book your trips or even be your friend. Check out direct links to try those out here. One woman I spoke with on my national radio show even married her AI companion.

The AI Job That Pays Up to $335K--and You Don't Need a Computer Engineering Background
A new kind of AI job is emerging--and it pays six-figure salaries and doesn't require a degree in computer engineering, or even advanced coding skills. With the rise in generative artificial intelligence, a host of companies are now looking to hire "prompt engineers" who are tasked with training the emerging crop of AI tools to deliver more accurate and relevant responses to the questions real people are likely to pose. Some of these jobs can even pay up to $335,000 a year. Anna Bernstein, a 29-year-old prompt engineer at generative AI firm Copy.ai in New York, is one of the few people already working in this new field. Her role involves writing text-based prompts that she feeds into the back end of AI tools so they can do things such as generate a blog post or sales email with the proper tone and accurate information.
